There are many different editions of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite. The more recent editions, from 2007 and 2010, save their files in a different, updated format by default. Many old data-recovery programs do not work with these types of files. Fortunately, however, one solution called Excel Recovery Free is exceptional, in that it can work with files saved by any edition of the spreadsheet software.
